Unipower is a Danish family of power control units and measurement transducers widely used in various industries across the world. Their product range includes both DIN-rail mounted and panel-mounted units, covering functions such as kW-meters, control units, and advanced tool monitoring systems. Unipower Load Monitors measure the load on the motor electronically, using the motor as a sensor to detect the state of the equipment it is driving. This is primarily to protect the machine from damage but can also protect the motor. In abnormal running conditions, the Load Monitor measures the load drawn by the motor and compares it to normal values. The most common use for such monitors is to detect when a pump is running dry, especially in industries like petrochemical, agrochemical, and pharmaceutical where hazardous chemicals are being pumped.

Unipower's Digital Load Monitors, such as the HPL500, have been used in industrial motor-driven applications for over 30 years. These monitors are extensively used in water and waste, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and agrochemical industries to protect machines from damage caused by abnormal load events such as jams, blockages, or dry runs. The HPL500 represents the latest generation of Unipower's range, featuring enhanced capabilities that allow it to replace multiple models in the previous range. It can operate on a wide motor voltage range and measures current up to 40 amps via its feed-through tube. Programming the HPL500's over and under load trip points is simple, using only three push buttons.
